Rajasthan probably best reflects most people’s idea of India: palaces, forts, temples, turbans, moustaches, saris, deserts, camels, donkeys and goats. It attracts more than its fair share of visitors and I travelled through it by train for just over a month. I visited Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Jaipur and Udiapur seeking out the locals, their markets and workplace, their homes and their streets. Here is but a glimpse of what I saw and I know I only touched briefly on the surface of life here.
